"Rei"
"Ki"-- The Kanji (Japanese alphabet) definition for
Rei is universal, transcendental spirit, mysterious power, essence. Ki is defined as the vital life force energy, very similar to the Chi of Chinese acupuncture, and Bioplasmic Energy to Russian researchers. This Universal Life Energy is guided by a higher intelligence. Reiki is brought through the practitioner and transferred to the client via a light touch. It is called "hands on" work, Light-work, or Energywork.
The Five Reiki Principles:
Just for today, I will live with an attitude of gratitude.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will not anger.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will show love and respect for every living being.
Reiki works for the highest good of all.
Reiki "un-blocks" any and all impediments between what is organic and that which is "the original source of its life". Reiki transcends time and distance to heal and un-block impediments within one's past, present, and future. Reiki shifts the soul's emphasis from unwanted habits, in the benefit of fostering the achievement of one's personal goals.
History
Reiki is a verbal lineage passed down from Master to student through initiation. The student learns the history of Reiki, the Reiki lineage from the modern founder and Grandmaster Dr. Mikao Usui, to the present standing Grandmaster, Phyllis Lei Furumoto, and the student receives attunements. Attunements are spiritual agreements between the "other side" and the student that the student takes responsibility for being a conduit to channel the healing universal life energy.
Reiki
Training is divided into three classes or also
called degrees. Reiki level one, level two,
and level three (or Reiki Mastership). You can
be certified from an individual Reiki
Master or a Reiki Master at a Reiki Institution. The
three degrees include attunements to the Power
Symbols. The signing of the power symbol activates the healing energy. Each power symbol activates a particular frequency of healing, one for physical healing, one for emotional healing, another for psychological healing. The Power Symbols appeared to Dr. Mikao Usui the day he
received the power to do hands-on healing.
These Power Symbols originally appeared to him in
Sanskrit then he translated them to Japanese (his
native tongue). .
